“I normally build my own sealed boxes. I wanted something a little different this time, and wanted to go with ported 10” box. This box is a great mid range between heavy enough to be good, and not so heavy you are hauling around an extra 75# all the time.

The fit and finish seem to be excellent. Although I did pull off the speakers hookup cup and put silicone sealant under it and resealed it. I’d say that cup is the weakest part of the box. I also used silicone when I installed my sub, just to have a good seal.

The Bedliner material is a little rough, and most gaskets may not seal well. I put a Rockford P3 in it, wired at 2 ohms, with a Zapco 800 watt amp. I have it in a 2016 Subaru Impreza. With this setup it will about blow the review mirror off the windshield.

“This thing is built like a tank. I choose to put 2X Harmony Audio HA-C124 Car Competition 12” Sub 2200W Dual 4 Ohm Subwoofers in this. I love the large wires they used for the connectors because they know it will require it.

It’s strong and durable because it uses small fibers glued together with a type of resin that resists breaking down under conditions encountered in typical use: high humidity, exposure to various chemicals etc.

This means you can do things like seal MDF in a basement using primer as protection against water or paint over areas subjected to spillage without having to worry about the finish cracking or coming off around those edges.

Moreover, mfcs made out of MDF are often preferred over particle board or plywood because the individual pieces can be made with greater accuracy, which gives them superior sound quality.

The problem is that when you cut it, there’s a possibility that the saw blade and the wood fibers separate and leave unglued particles on your subwoofer box, especially if the saw blade speed is too high or if you use dull blades.

This greatly compromises the strength of the box and its durability too as it compromises the bond between the particles/atoms (or whatever they’re made out of) that makeup MDF, so your subwoofer box will likely last far less long than if it was cut correctly.

To make sure that doesn’t happen, you should use a fine-tooth saw blade and start cutting slowly to ensure the blade doesn’t heat up too much. And you could also sand the cut edges before gluing them together; this will smooth out the surfaces as well as remove any particles left over from the wood powder.

It’s also a good idea to use an appropriate adhesive when joining the pieces, one that will expand and close any gaps that might appear between the mfcs.

Offset them so that they are not parallel to each other because then any car shock will affect both subs more (in an uneven manner).

Also, make sure you use high-quality marine-grade wood screws to mount it at least 1" from your seatbelt socket because accidents can happen and these could lead to painful (or deadly) results!
